KARE is a Houston-based labor marketplace, launched in 2019, that connects caregivers, CNAs, medication aides and nurses (called HEROes) with open shifts at senior living, assisted living and skilled nursing communities. HEROes work as 1099 independent contractors, choose individual shifts in the KARE Heroes app at rates set by each community, and are paid after the community verifies the shift. Payment typically arrives within about seven business days, with faster next-day or real-time pay for workers who earn 4-5 star reviews.
